About 1500 years ago, a Brahmin family lived in a village in the Jaisalmer area of Rajasthan. The name of that Brahmin was Vidya Gore. He had a daughter named Lakhu and a son named Laxman. The whole atmosphere of the house was religious. Her daughter Lakhu used to get up early in the morning with her father and go to Shivpuja and Aarti for daily activities.
Lakhu herself seemed divine in the form of a real goddess. Her rule was that they should eat anything after Shiva Puja. Lakhu used to worship with cow’s milk. Years have passed and Lakhu became 15-year-old. It’s a matter of one day. Lakhu became restless as the cow did not return after grazing till morning. She was concerned about the cow, she shouted to his younger brother Laxman, “brother if cow has not arrived, and there is a delay in the morning Shiva Puja, find it and bring it.” After searching for the cow all morning, he found the cow dead in one place. One hunter thought it was a daily hunt. Lakshman saw it and understood. Came home and described the whole situation to Lakhu. Lakhu started crying with deep tears. She did not eat food without worshiping it, so now she has broken her vow. Without even thinking for a moment, she decided to sati behind the cow.
